Discovery of Mauritius

We sometimes call him « the Saint Tropez of Mauritius »Grand Bay is the most famous seaside resort in the country. Located in the north of Mauritius, on horseback between the district of Rivière du Rempart and that of Pamplemousses, Grand Baie was originally only a small coastal village. Its half-circle ocean front, marina and beaches (Pereybere, Grand Baie Beach, Mont Choisy) have seduced hotel groups that are located there, attracting tourists and new activities. Today, Grand Baie is not lacking in attractions: water sports, upscale restaurants, lounge bars, nightclubs, shops... but also luxury real estate programs.

The Flacq district also houses a privileged tourist destination: Belle Mare. Fine sand, turquoise water, 5-star hotels, golf courses... Belle Mare is designed for lovers of relaxation and well-being. It's full of spas,
is suitable for nautical activities and has access to two incredible islands: the Isle of Cerfs and the Isle of Mangénie. The first is known for its golf course, which is one of the most beautiful in Mauritius. The second is a haven of peace, a decor worthy of a postcard with its pontoons, houses on stilts and its breathtaking lagoon.

Among the most attractive cities, there are also Tamarin and its luxurious villas, the Morne with its unique hotel complexes, Bel Ombre, or Grand Gaube.

Discover the beaches of Mauritius

In the southeast of Mauritius, two beaches draw their pins from the game. Blue Bay Beach, with its lagoon and turquoise water, slices fine sandy beaches. In communion with nature, it mixes rocks and vegetation for an authentic experience. La Cambuse, a few meters from Pointe Vacoas, mixes sand and park, ideal for experienced swimmers and perfect for a picnic by the water. Both are public beaches.

On the Grand Bay side, the beach of Pereybere is one of the most popular. Those of Grand Bay and Mont Choisy are not left behind, with their expanses of idyllic sand and translucent water. In the south-west, the beach of the Morne is incomparable. Palm trees, turquoise water, and especially views of the imposing iconic mountain of Mauritius.

In the North, Trou aux Biches has a dream beach, very appreciated by couples, especially for a honeymoon. Weary of sandy beaches? The river of the Galets, in the extreme south of Mauritius, should please you! Unique of its kind, the beach is made of thousands of pebbles, suitable for calm and relaxation.

Flic en Flac is one of the most famous beaches in Mauritius. Cocotiers, white sand, shallow water... it is suitable for all, small and large, and is ready for diving. You can admire the reef and the exotic fish that live there.

The kitchen Mauritius

Discover Mauritian cuisine

Mauritian gastronomy comes from the mixed population. It mixes French, Chinese, Indian and African flavours and is characterized by its often spicy dishes. Among the national dishes are the briani, which consists of rice, chicken and vegetables, inspired by Muslim cuisine. Vindaye, with Indian inspirations, made of fish, is a cold dish very appreciated at noon. Mauritian rougaille is a very spicy dish whose name comes from the Tamil language. Ginger, chilli, tomatoes and onions accompany chicken, fish or shrimp. The most well-known rougales are made with artisanal cod or creole sausage.

Fish and seafood are very popular among Mauritians and come from the local fishery: sardine, tuna, shrimp, squid or crabs, never salmon or colin as Europeans usually eat. The beef is not produced in Mauritius either, the meats consist of chicken, turkey, pork and sheep. The most popular fruits on the market, sold very cheaply, are litchis, bananas, pineapples and all citrus fruits.
