What is the weather like in Mauritius?

Mauritius, tropical climate
Mauritius bathes in a tropical climate. With only two seasons – summer and winter – its climate rarely falls below 20°C. The summer runs from September to May, with temperatures ranging from 27°C to 33°C, and a high moisture content. The west and north coasts of Mauritius, where the cities of Grand Bay, Tamarin and Le Morne are the warmest. In winter, the cold does not fall below 17°C, but the heat can go up to 25°C. The water of the Indian Ocean is 20°C around August, for 27°C in March.
Rain season Mauritius
Much of the summer in Mauritius is part of the rainy season. From December to April, rains can be torrential and precede tropical cyclones that cross Mauritius.
If temperatures remain warm, the atmosphere is humid. From one region to another, rainfall will be more or less significant.
The east coast is generally the wettest, while the west coast will tend to be the driest.
Climate by region Mauritius
On the north coast, the districts of Pamplemousses and Rivière du Rempart, Baie du Tombeau to Roche Noire have minimum temperatures of 16°C in winter and maximums of 35°C in summer. The humidity level is one of the lowest, 79% at the beginning of the rainy season.
The south coast, from Pointe d'Esny to Morne, between Grand Port and Black River, varies between 19°C and 33°C. It is one of the regions least affected by the violent winds reaching a maximum of 15 km/h.
To the east, from Cap Malheureux to Bambous Virieux, the coastline reaches the coldest temperatures in winter with minimum temperatures at 11°C, and has a mild summer with maximums of only up to 32°C in summer. It is also the wettest region, with a rate of 87% at the peak of the rainy season.
West Mauritius, which includes Tamarin Bay, Flic en Flac or Port Louis, has stable temperatures, 12°C in winter and up to 35°C in summer. The wind is weak, from 7 to 12 km/h, and the water is the warmest: it is at 27°C for half a year.
The interior, with Quatre Bornes, Curepipe or Moka, has the warmest temperatures in Mauritius at the end of the summer with nearly 40°C.
